Telefónica I+D activities are also directed towards the definition of the technology strategy. The objective is to provide a unified overall technological vision for the Telefónica Group and to assure the coordination of activities within Telefónica I+D.
The main activities are:
- Technological Surveillance. This group explores the possible practical application of technical knowledge, and supports the innovation strategy. The main tool is the Technological Observatory, which is used to predict evolution and disruptive changes and to provide guidance during the decision-making process in order to create competitive advantages in technology-based businesses.
- Strategic coordination. This guarantees that Telefónica I+D's innovation products are in line with the strategy followed by the Group as a whole. and boosts the transference of results between the Group.
- Intellectual property and traceability. This group stimulates patent creation and establishes the methodologies and processes that facilitate the traceability of ideas within the context of Open Innovation.
