- English Attack! is the EFL (English As a Foreign Language) partner of the ParisTech group of Paris-area elite universities
English Attack! (currently in Private Beta) is the world’s first 100% entertainment-focused online method for learning English. It has been created by media and entertainment executives with significant blue-chip experience (Activision Blizzard, Vivendi Games Mobile, I-Play, Apple, CNN, NBC..) who see huge potential in a totally different approach to learning languages, one using online entertainment but based on solid pedagogical principles.
The worldwide market for learning English is worth an estimated $100 billion in annual sales; involves about two billion consumers worldwide; over 11 million individual teachers of English; and tens of thousands of schools, teaching or training institutions and educational publishers. Given our backgrounds, we decided to address this market from a totally disruptive pedagogical tangent, using online video clips from the latest Hollywood blockbusters and TV series; the latest music videos; professionally produced Flash casual games; and social networking functionalities like wikis, chat and messaging to create an innovative, fun and effective learning environment for the English language.
Engish Attack! is specifically tailored to the 15-35 age group (the one with the highest learning potential but the lowest tolerance of traditional classroom approaches). Its user interface will be localized in dozens of languages (thus facilitating take-up by beginners) and it is designed to be complementary to, rather than competing with, other methods of learning English. Due to this complementarity, English Attack! will be able to create partnerships with a wide range of traditional and online players serving this vast and highly fragmented market.
