aNEWSme is a B2B company providing reader behavior analysis and news recommendations to news websites. By deploying aNEWSme, news sites can provide personalized news recommendations to their readers. aNEWSme leads to substantial increase in articles read and advertising revenue for news outlets.
“The ability to help us serve targeted ads by audience segment and to increase the number of articles read is what makes aNEWSme interesting for us”, Executive Director Customer Insights, New York Times
Why and why now
News organizations have a clear and explicitly stated need to understand better their readers, direct them to relevant news, and serve more relevant ads. This is why we are building aNEWSme.
So far we have a stated interest in prototype review from the New York Times, initial good reaction from Forbes as well as interest in the product concept from Google.
Currently aNEWSme has its first test client deployment in the works with target launch in March 2010.
Our solution
At aNEWSme we are building a product which creates a profile for the reader based on past articles read and site behavior. aNEWSme then evaluates how likely the reader is to read each new article and suggests to him those that are most likely to interest them.
The main benefit for news websites, our prime target customers, is to suggest which news each specific reader will be most interested in reading. This will improve reader involvement and drive advertising revenue growth, increasing both the number of articles read and the revenue per ad impression by an estimated 5-10%.
For news readers we are providing an unobtrusive news suggestion system which will mix personalized suggestions with traditional editorial news. This will improve the site interaction and increase site relevance for the readers. It will save them time and effort while not cornering them to a specific news segment or news type. Our service is valuable to readers online and has significant potential on a mobile platform too.
