openBicing
openBicing is Yet Another bike sharing network application, currently focused on Barcelona's Bicing system.
It displays stations with some user selected filters plus a list with all the info:
- Free bikes / slots
- Distance and walking time
- Availability
- View all / Radius mode
The project is waiting to be forked into a bigger project (CityBikes), including more networks (Bizi Zaragoza, Paris Vélib, Dublin Bikes, ...).
We are not scrapping the data from inside the application. instead, our servers manage a mirror / cache of the network's data. This provides a descentralized way of managing the application (we can add / repair / update servers without updating the application).
Being an open source project (http://github.com/eskerda/openbicing) , the application is opened and ready for the inclusion of more bike systems. Volunteers can provide a JSON feed to be included on our application (maintenance at their cost / time), or a data scrapper to be added on our systems.
